Safety Manager

Overview:

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment across all company operations. This position plays a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture, conducting job site audits, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations.

This is a field-based position that requires approximately 50% travel to multiple project sites and close collaboration with the National Hydro Excavation Services team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster and maintain a strong culture of safety across all work sites

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety programs in line with OSHA and other regulatory guidelines

  • Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and safety meetings to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement

  • Lead accident investigations and ensure proper documentation and follow-up

  • Assist in developing Emergency Action Plans and coordinate responses to site incidents

  • Provide ongoing safety training and presentations for field personnel and management

  • Offer technical safety support to teams in the field

  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, training, and compliance documentation

  • Ensure safety supplies are available and maintained at all job sites

  • Collaborate with project teams to proactively identify and address potential risks


Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred

  • 5-15 years of experience in construction safety or related field

  • Recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) in construction safety practices

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and other applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations

  • Recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) in construction safety practices

  • Experience in Risk Assessment/Management and data analysis

  • Familiarity with time reporting systems and safety tracking software

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across various media

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills

  • Proficient with PC-based applications and quick to learn new software

  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently and in a team environment

  • Willingness to travel to job sites regularly (Omaha, Blair, Lincoln, Des Moines)
